This week we will be hopefully hatching baby chicks. We are also making Mother's Day gifts. My playground is still under construction and I am having my roof replaced. It is supposed to be relatively warm so we will be reading books and staying indoors more than usual. *******************************************************************************
We removed the separator on our incubator today and prepared the box for the chicks once they are dry enough to come out of the incubator.
Each of the kids had the opportunity to listen to the eggs....but no peeping yet!
This morning we read several books about caring for baby chicks, what they eat, etc. We are hopeful we will hatch at least one baby! Tomorrow is the day!!! The children also worked on tracing the straight lines.
WE HAVE BABIES!!! ERNIE AND BERT
Today around noon we should be able to take our babies out of the incubator. They needed to stay in there for about 24 hours, until they are dried and fluffy! We will be preparing their food for them (steel cut oats and chopped hard boiled eggs).
Last night we had one more baby hatch! We should be able to remove him from the incubator about 3:00 today. I believe he is our final baby. We incubated 9 eggs and hatched 3. The kids are very excited because today they will get to hold the babies.
