This week we will begin our baby chick study. I have purchased an incubator and have a gentleman that has kindly donated 9 chicken eggs for us to hatch. Each day the children will learn about the the eggs and baby chickens. It takes 21 days for the babies to hatch and we have a chart on the daycare door which is a count down till we have chicks!
We cracked one of the eggs open similar to the ones we will be incubating. The kids learned that the tiny spot in the yolk is where the baby will begin to grow. They also learned "diversity," the eggs all look the same on the inside even though some eggs are brown and some are white. I was amazed at how fascinated my older children were with this.
Everyone enjoyed coloring they Life Cycle Worksheets
The children were responsible for assembling their pre-cut pieces into a chick hatching from an egg.
