Outdoor time this week will be primarily in the morning due to the extreme temperatures in the forecast. We will be taking the baby chicks out with us which is very exciting to the kids. Dino is anchored so the kids can safely climb on him. We also set up 3 sensory tables this week-end for the kids. They have sand, brown rubber and river stones. On Tuesday the kids will be surprised to see we will be fostering 4 baby ducks for a few weeks. Wednesday is National Hotdog day and you can bet we will be grilling! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just another day on our "city farm"
Our little family of 10 feathered friends
Toilet Paper Roll Bumble Bees
Fruit Loop and Cheerio Hotdogs!!!
HAPPY NATIONAL HOTDOG DAY!!! Solar grill success!!! Just 20 minutes in the Kansas sunshine and we have plump juicy hotdogs!!! Within 10 minutes the temperature in the can was 385 degrees.
Enjoying our "mini farm," I feel very fortunate to have such a great relationship with Mr. Wayne. He is helping me provide experiences to the children which many may never have.
This morning we made solar hotdog cookers. We will be cooking our lunch tomorrow in recycled Pringles cans. We will place them on a metal surface, cover them with plastic wrap to hold the heat in. The reflection from the metal against the silver lining in the Pringles can will cook their hotdogs!
Lots of excitement this morning.....4 baby ducks!
Wayne, our friendly farmer has offered to allow us to foster his 4 baby ducks he hatched over the weekend, pictures will be posted Tuesday.
Mmmmm...... Ice Cream Cones! (made with recycled lids)
