This is an exciting week for the kids, our baby chicks 21st day is Monday so hopefully we will have some babies soon. We will be doing St. Patricks Day activities daily along with our normal daily lessons. On Thursday we will be visiting our friends at Stoneybrook Retirement Home and I believe we will be searching for a Leprechaun!!! We will be making "Leprechaun Lookers" to help us search! All St. Patricks Day crafts are posted under the St. Patricks Day 2019 tab. ******************************************************************************

Leprechaun Trap # 2 made!!!
That sneaky Leprechaun escaped our trap last night!!!! He took our gold coin and left the kids a Hershey's Kiss and a note that said "Tee Hee Hee you can't catch me!"
Baby Chick update, we have 4 healthy babies and one more which is struggling but we are hopeful. The four babies have to stay in a controlled temperature of 95-100 degrees for the first week. They are eating and drinking and doing well!!
Happy National Cold Cereal Day!!!
The trip to Stoneybrook was unsuccessful, no Leprechaun to be found. My older kids decided we are going to make some traps in hopes of catching that sneaky little guy! (Pictures under the St. Patrick's Day 2019 tab) Leprechaun Trap # 1

Celebrating National Oreo Cookie Day!
Three baby chicks are out and enjoying their new home. We have another with a peck hole in it's egg in the incubator so hopefully we will have at least 1 more chick to add to our little brood.
Getting the baby chicks new home ready!!!
The children put pine shavings in my tote for bedding for the chicks. We put shiny stones in their waterer to encourage them to drink and also prevent them from drowning. We have a heat lamp on them to maintain a temperature of 95-100 degrees for the first week out of the incubator.
Happy International Pancake Day!!!
We have three babies this morning!!!
Once our babies hatch, they have to remain in the incubator for at least 24 hours. Baby chicks can survive over 48 hours without food or water after hatching.
Baby Chicks We always try to save all remnants of our extra craft supplies. Today the children ripped small pieces of yellow construction paper to create baby chicks. They painted with glue and then placed the scraps of paper on cardstock.
Are you ready?????Baby chicks are beginning to hatch and the kids are so excited!!! So far we have 3 eggs with small holes in their shells. The children have all been able to pick up the eggs and listen to them chirping. They can see their little beaks wiggling under the membrane of the eggs. Hopefully by the end of the day we will have at least one baby all of the way out of his shell. They will have to stay in the incubator until they are dry, about 12 hours.
