I have provided childcare in the Manhattan area since 1986. I love what I do. It is very rewarding to feel you are making a difference in someones life. The children I care for are treated as my own. We play, learn, laugh and most of all have fun. I love to have the children be creative and I have found recycling magazines, paper towel rolls, newspapers, etc. are the best things to use!
I have 4 beautiful children of my own and 2 step children. My oldest daughter is an educator at Amanda Arnold Elementary School, my middle daughter is a Registered Nurse at ViaChristi Emergency Room, my youngest daughter is a Opioid Specialist, Doctor of Pharmacy in Denver, Colorado, and my son graduated from KU with a dual major in Biology and Spanish. He is Senior Scientist at Catalent in Kansas City, Missouri and resides there. My step son is a doctor in St. Louis, Missouri and my step daughter lives in Pagosa Springs, Colorado with her partner and child.
My fiancé Bill has lived with me for 13 years. He is my substitute provider. He has earned all of the necessary training to be a provider as well. He works full time at Schwab and Eaton. Bill is wonderful with the kids and they all love him. He cares for the children in the event of me having a dentist, doctor appointment, etc. It has been awesome to have someone to help out whenever needed. Many times when we have special events planned, Bill will take time off to enjoy the children.
In my free time, I enjoy running with Bill. We run multiple half-marathons each year and at least one marathon. My ultimate goal was to qualify for Boston. I accomplished this goal, July 28, 2018. We both lift weights daily at The Foundation. Fitness and healthy eating is a very important part of our lives.
We adopted a Bouvier Des Flandres puppy in June of 2021. He is continuing to take multiple obedience classes. In May of 2022, Brutus earned his Therapy Dog Title from Therapy Dog International. Brutus is continuing to build his portfolio of titles. He loves the children.
I believe the most rewarding thing about my job is to have past daycare children come to visit me. I love seeing what wonderful adolescents and adults they become. This is assurance to me that I have provided an important component to these young peoples lives to help them become who they are today.
